TUCSON GUITAR TEACHERS ASSOCIATION

Dear friends,

It's a pleasure to announce here the new project between Tucson Guitar Society and the UofA Guitar Department. It is called: Tucson Guitar Teachers Association.

We all know that motivation is critical for anybody who decides to learn how to play any instrument, especially guitar. It is very common to see people very excited to begin taking lessons and then after some time just giving up. How many of us had students like that?

Sometimes we see so much potential in somebody and believe so much this person is going to become really good and all of a sudden a simple: "Teacher, I decided to stop our lessons" happens...

There are certainly many reasons for this and maybe one of the most common possibilities is simply: Lack of variety. The student goes to lesson, goes home, goes to lesson, goes home, etc, etc...... Playing can sometimes be really boring when people JUST take lessons...

The association happened as a form of provinding more VARIETY to our students. What do I mean by that? I mean that TGS and UofA will be listening to your ideas on how to assist your students with OUTSIDE guitar class experience. Maybe ideas like youth guitar competitions, free concert tickets, guitar masterclasses, topic seminars, etc will come up.

I believe that the more variety a student is exposed to, the more motivated s/he will become to keep achieving results. It's clear to me that learning is a process, a process from where our student is right now to where s/he will be one day. Why don't make this process more enjoyable? How can we make sure our students take full advantage of our city's guitar scenario?

For now we are only accepting Guitar Instructors (also Schools) who are currently teaching ten or more students. In a near future we will probably have open spots for guitar instructors with less students as well. I will keep you posted.

Thank you :)
