Eduardo Minozzi Costa
A Brazilian musician of outstanding facility and musical insight, Eduardo plays with an enthusiasm and energy that captures his audiences’ imagination and draws them into a world of spontaneous and creative wonder.

He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in guitar performance at Brazil leading University - The University of São Paulo, under Dr. Edelton Gloeden and also studied with Paulo Porto Alegre and Everton Gloeden at EMM. Subsequently, Eduardo was awarded a cultural visit to the USA under the sponsorship of the São Paulo United States Consulate General. This trip resulted in a successful audition at the University of Arizona and a full scholarship to pursue both Master’s and Doctoral Degrees in Guitar Performance. He has been a Teaching Assistant (GTA) to Prof. Thomas Patterson in the School of Music at the U of A since 2006.
While in the United States, Eduardo has won four prestigious guitar competitions, the most recent one being the Sholin Memorial Guitar Competition in Tucson, Arizona in April, 2009. As a result, he has been invited to perform as a guest artist in major cities such as Portland, Houston, Boston, Austin and St. Joseph.
In 2008 he was the recipient of the highly competitive Northern Trust/Piper Enrichment Award. Said award is granted annually, in memory of Virginia Piper, to a graduate student in the performing arts “to enhance the student's inspiration, cultural enrichment and research." This award enabled Eduardo to participate in The Koblenz Guitar Festival and Competition in Germany in May of that same year and to study with several esteemed teachers in Europe. In the Koblenz International competition there were eighty participants from around the world. Eduardo was among the six finalists, becoming the first Brazilian to achieve such an honor.
Another prior important achievement was being runner up in the Guitar Foundation of America competition in 2007 and becoming the Outreach Director of Tucson Guitar Society (TGS) in 2009.
Gabriel Navia
Gabriel Navia completed his Bachelor’s degree in guitar performance at Brazil’s leading University, the University of Sao Paulo, under Dr. Edelton Gloeden.
He has been the recipient of several awards in important guitar and chamber music competitions in Brazil and in the United States.

In addition, Gabriel was among the four finalists in the 2008 Sholin Memorial guitar competition in Tucson, Arizona, receiving the 3rd prize.
In the past five years, Gabriel has been invited to perform with important orchestras and musicians, such as, Camerata Clássica (Music in the mountains Festival) in Brazil; University of Sao Paulo Symphony Orchestra (Floresta Amazonica – H. Villa-Lobos); Arizona Contemporary Ensemble (O. Messiaen and G. Crumb Festival); Arizona Symphony Orchestra (J. Ibert); Paulo Porto Alegre and Edelton Gloeden, former Brazilian Guitar Quartet members (100 years – Radames Gnatalli) in Brasilia, and as a soloist with the Choir Madrigal Sempre Encanto (Romancero Gitano – M. C. Tedesco) in Sao Paulo.
In 2004, he concluded his classical guitar studies at the “Universidade Livre de Musica Tom Jobim” in Sao Paulo, under Everton Gloeden.
In 2005, together with Eduardo Minozzi-Costa, Italo Aoki and Thiago Abdalla,Gabriel Navia premiered in Sao Paulo , the largest piece ever written for two guitars, “Les Guitares bien tempérés” by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.
In 2007, Gabriel was awarded a scholarship to pursue his Master’s degree in guitar performance at the University of Arizona under Professor Thomas Patterson. In addition, Gabriel is also a Teaching Assistant (GTA) to Prof. Thomas Patterson at the U of A School of Music.
At the end of 2008, Gabriel Navia and Eduardo Minozzi-Costa started a guitar duo called Brazukas, meaning The Brazilians. The duo has been working on classical and popular Brazilian music and has been performing at important concerts in the Tucson area, such as Arizona Senior Academy, “Continuum” Art Exhibition and Music of the Sphere at Biosphere II.
